Video 1st lap at MMS

3-20-10

Roger enterd his first Show Me The Money race at Montgomery Motor Speedway. With an impressive 34 cars there, Roger came there with high expectations. After all, this was his first race in his new car.
The first time out in a new car is always a nervous, but exciting time and Roger did his best by qualifing a 19:56 placing him 29th in the large field. He did everyone at Cain Motorsports proud by keeping the car on the lead lap of the 125 lap race and posting a 15th place finish.
Now it is time to "get in the old toolbox" to make the new car better.

Montgomery Motor Speedway!

Roger entered Jerry Bradford's sportsman car in this past weekend's race at MMS. It was a dominating race for him. He qualified on pole going nearly one second faster than the second place car. He lead every lap, and took the checkered flag.

He was asked by Kevin Bennett to drive his late model in the feature race of the evening. Roger did not qualify the car, so he had to start "shotgun" on the field. The night did not get much easier for the Sterrett driver, as a bolt came out of the rear end, causing it leak dope on the track. He was black flagged, and did not finish the race.

Thanks for the memories...

Sadly we say farewell to our home track, Birmingham International Raceway. We have been racing there since 1987, and have had countless memories from the historic track.
Just to name a few; Roger flipping in turn four;First race of 2001 Roger winning, I (Anthony Cain) finishing second; I blew an engine leading with the laps winding down, Roger and Howard Evans tried there best to total each others cars with Roger and our dad being escorted (by police) out of the track. But most of all the bonding moments that we shared amongst ourselves, whether at the track, or in the shop preparing for the upcoming race, we are all indebted to OUR track, BIR.

Extremely busy night...

This past Sunday, September 21, Birmingham International Raceway held a race to benefit The Children's Hospital calling it the "Teddy Bear 100". We entered the event in the Late Model and Limited Sportsman classes.
We just received our engine back from having some repairs made to it and there is nothing like going out on a fresh engine. The improvements that were made were indescribable. We were leaps and bounds better than we were from the last time we raced.
Eighteen other cars entered the "Teddy Bear 100" and we qualified mid-pack turning in our best qualifying time of 21:15 nearly 9/10 of a second faster than our last race.
Roger said that the car was loose in qualifying, but he thought that it would "come to him" during the race; unfortunately it did not. We ended up finishing 14th out of 19 and did not finish due to a mechanical failure. Dennis "Tink" Reno Jr won the "Teddy Bear 100".
In the limited sportsman race we started sixth and actually ran good, but there was a new car out this past race, and was actually very fast. We moved into the second position behind him and had settled there until a caution came out. If not for a restart infraction (which I Anthony Cain thought was hilarious) he would have won the race. He was disqualified rolling the victory over to us.
Roger was once again approached by the Belter brothers to drive their street stock Neil Bonnet replica Ford. He started fourth quickly working his way to second challenging for the lead when he burned the right rear tire off the car and falling back to the fourth position where he finished the race.
Special thanks to Jerry Bradford/Renaissance Electric, Coastal Truck & Equipment, Xtreme Suspension Technology, and the Belter brothers.
